The scheme involved the internal refurbishment and contemporary extensions to No.78 Wimpole Street which is a grade II listed Georgian
town house in the Harley Street Conservation Area and the total demolition of No.77 to be replaced
by a modern contemporary fully
serviced office building.
The pre planning process involved protracted negotiations to persuade
the planners that the demolition of
No. 77 an existing Georgian town
house was acceptable. This included extensive analysis of the existing
street followed by in-depth design submissions to indicate the quality
of the proposed design and that a contemporary façade could fit well
into a traditional streetscape.
